Credentialing of Counseling Practitioners Referral List 

for Athletes Who are Survivors of Sexual Abuse

Safe4Athletes is seeking appropriately trained and credentialed professionals to be on a resource list for athletes who may have encountered sexual abuse, assault and harassment.   If you are interested in becoming a part of a referral list, the following must be submitted for review by the Safe4Athletes Athlete Welfare Advisory Panel.  Please complete the form with the required documents for review. Thank you for your interest. 

REQUIRED:

Education:  Master’s, Ed.S., or Doctorate in Psychology or a related field (Ph.D., Psy.D. or Ed.D). in counseling - focus must be on counseling or providing clinical services to people.

Certifying Body Credentialing: Must have a state license to practice psychology, counseling, social work (LPC, LCSW, LMFT, etc.)

Sport Component: Must have experience working with athletes and understand the athletic culture.  This must be demonstrated via coursework and experience  (supervised experience).

Experience in treating trauma:  This can be demonstrated by coursework and/or experience.
